The incredible HTC Droid DNA Video Transcript

Hi, this is Brian Bennett for CNET.com, and today, we're taking a first look at the HTC Droid DNA for Verizon Wireless. This much-hyped handset costs $199.99, is now available for pre-order and officially ships on November 21st, just in time to spice up the holiday season. You may ask, "What's so special about the Droid DNA? Well, lots. First, the Android handset features a big 5-inch Super LCD 3 screen that's bright and boasts a sharp 1080p resolution, which HTC claims translates into 440 pixels per inch. Second, this super phone is positively packed with cutting edge hardware and software. Running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, the Droid DNA is powered by a fire-breathing 1.5 gigahertz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor. For memory, there's a roomy 2 gigabytes of RAM and 16 gigabytes of internal storage. Thirdly, the Droid DNA has killer good looks. At 0.38-inch thick and a mere 0.16-inch thick at its thinnest point, this phone is extremely trim. What further enhances the Droid DNA's wafer-like dimensions is how the display's glass extends to the handset's edges. Clad in black and trimmed with red metallic stripes on either side, the DNA also has a futuristic style all its own. Above the screen is a 2-megapixel front-facing camera capable of shooting video at 1080p HD. A tiny notification light sits here, too. Below are three capacitive buttons for Android functions. The right holds a long volume bar while up top is a headphone jack, power button, and SIM card slot. Around the back is the DNA's 8-megapixel camera and LED flash. There's even a notification light here, too, the first device I've seen with one in this location. Other nice features include bit audio processing technology, the latest Sense 4+ user interface and connection to Verizon's 4G LTE data network. You can even charge the phone wirelessly if you have a charging station that uses the chip standard handy. The Droid DNA comes with a very good 8-megapixel camera that's packed with many features and shooting modes, such as an HDR mode, panorama, continuous shooting, and the ability to snap shots while recording video. So far, this phone looks like the Verizon device to beat this holiday season. But to be sure, check out our full review at CNET.com. I'm Brian Bennett, and this has been a first look at the HTC Droid DNA.

HTC Droid DNA (Verizon Wireless) Review

The good: The beautifully designed HTC Droid DNA features a quad-core processor, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, 4G LTE, a sharp 5-inch screen, an excellent camera, and long battery life.

The bad: The Droid DNA's large size makes it tricky to fit in tight pockets, and it lacks both an SD card slot and a removable battery.

The bottom line: With quad-core power, 4G LTE, a lovely 5-inch screen, and a stunning design, the $199.99 HTC Droid DNA is currently Verizon's best Android deal.
