>> Hey everyone I'm Jeff Bakalar assistant editor here at CNET.com and I'm here today with the I199 from ILuv. The I199 is primarily an iPod speaker dock, but it also does come with a bunch of features including a CD player, which is very rare among iPod speaker docks. The I199 allows you to use MP3s or WMAs you might have on a USB thumb drive. Also lets you transmit and or receive audio information via Bluetooth and it also lets you use any audio source via its audio in jack. The ILuv will let you use any iPod with a dock connection, however, the third generation iPods are not supported. The unit comes with a bunch of plastic cases that will fit any kind of iPod that you do have. You'll find the remote isn't the best quality in the world so you may find yourself having to push a button a couple of times for the unit to respond. In regards to sound quality, overall the ILuv is extremely good. It provides great sound quality for the size of the unit. If you do pump it up a little too high you will start to get some sort of audio distortion. And also we weren't too impressed with the audio quality when you use the Bluetooth connection. Over all the ILuv is a great value. You get an incredible amount of features for a moderate price tag. And compared to other models in the line of iPod speaker docks this goes way above and beyond what they can do. I'm Jeff Bakalar and this is been the I199 from ILuv. ^M00:01:35 [ Music ]

ILuv i199 (black) Review

Editors' rating

The good: Tabletop audio system combines iPod, AM/FM radio, CD (audio and MP3/WMA), and USB-based audio playback; line-in jack for connecting any additional sources; Bluepin feature can receive and transmit audio to and from Bluetooth devices; supports iPod video output; dual alarms can wake to any source; includes every cable you'll ever need using the system.

The bad: No EQ settings; minor USB issues; video out is composite, not S-Video; subpar sound quality when utilizing Bluetooth streaming option.

The bottom line: The impressive iLuv i199 provides a dizzying array of features--including iPod compatibility, CD player, AM/FM clock radio--you'll be hard-pressed to find on any other tabletop audio systems at this price.
