>> Hi I'm Tom Merritt from CNET.com here at CES 2008, taking a look at another product. This is the iLove. It's a DVD player and iPod dock, all combined in one. This is the iLove 1255. Retails for a hundred forty nine dollars, gonna be coming out in April. And it allows you to play your videos off your iPod, but also has a DVD player thrown in the mix as well. So if you're in the market for a new DVD player or you got an iPod this is actually a perfect solution for you. Little better than the Apple TV. Way it works, you've got this menu system, not granted this is the beta system, it will be improving by the time of launch they said, but it's really not bad. You go in from your remote, select the iPod, select your video. It's controlling the iPod just the way you're kind of used to seeing it. Go down here, I'll choose one of my TV shows, say Jericho season one, and it plays it right up on your television. Now the resolution of course is going to be whatever resolution you've got on your iPod, but it does output at 720p, so up to that level, whatever you've got, video podcast or whatever, is gonna show up there as well. Now if you want to watch a DVD, press the iPod DVD button, it will take you back to the menu screen, and switch you into the DVD mode. When you're in the DVD mode it'll work the way a DVD player works. Play, pause, menu system, all of that. This is gonna jump right into playing the DVD. But if I want to skip the international agreement warning, I can hit the menu, go in and look at any special features, or anything like that. Once again, the iLove 1255 has component on it. There is an iLove 1266 that they say will come out in May, don't have a price on that yet, will have an HDMI output. iLove 1255 again retails at one hundred forty nine dollars. We shall call the iPhone 4 "little smudgy" (because Rafe calls his iPad "big smudgy"). Kent German drops by the show to let us get a look at the shiny new toy that comprises, basically, the first half of our broadcast. Then, though, tune in for an update on the Droid X announcement that happened today, Android app privacy concerns, and Facebook's inexorable cruising toward 1 billion users.
While the iLuv i399 is still a solid-sounding iPod speaker dock, we wish it had held on to some of the features that made the previous model such an excellent value.
The impressive iLuv i199 provides a dizzying array of features--including iPod compatibility, a CD player, and an AM/FM clock radio--that you'll be hard-pressed to find on any other tabletop audio systems at this price.
From CES 2008, Natalie Del Conte takes a first look at the mStation 2.1 Stereo Tower, a 42-inch iPod dock with rotating speakers and subwoofer.
From CES 2008, Natali Del Conte takes a first look at the Creative Xfi dock, a device that upconverts the video files on your iPod to higher quality.
Does a keyboard case work on an iPad? What if it was detachable? We look at iLuv's all-leather keyboard case solution.
The iLuv iMM173 is one of the better iPhone-compatible alarm clocks we've tested, and the extra built-in dock makes it a great choice for couples.
Mark Licea's helping us out on the engineering board for the week, and today he'll help us answer two questions: has anyone ever taken a good photo of a live band, and is it possible to lose weight playing video games?
The Mint 220 combines a great-sounding iPod speaker dock with the ability to wirelessly stream audio from any PC or Mac.
The Sound Platform combines Bluetooth audio, FM radio, and iPod and iPhone compatibility into a boxy, yet beautiful, speaker dock.
