Huawei Ascend W1: Look familiar? Video Transcript

-Hey everybody, this is Jessica Dolcourt from CNET here at CES 2013 in Las Vegas. This is the Huawei Ascend W1. A very freshly announced Windows phone 8 device. It is in fact Huawei's first Windows phone 8 device. So, this is something special. There seems to be a trend in Windows phone to have bright colors and the Ascend W1, which will actually in the U.S. be called just the Huawei W1, there is this bright cyan color here, which very closely resembles the Nokia Lumia 900 and 920 colors. Also comes in this red color here, white, and black. Now, for the specs, the phone has a 4-inch LCD display. It runs off of a 1.2 gigahertz Qualcomm processor, so it may be a little bit slower than some of the other ones we've seen in Windows phone, but I think you're still gonna find pretty snappy performance. There's a 5-megapixel camera on the back with flash, and there's a front-facing camera as well. There is, of course, the physical camera button here and it does capture video. Behind the back cover, there is a micro SD card slot for external storage as well. The phone is really nicely designed. It does look very similar to some of the other ones on the market, but for those people who do like the bold shape and the squared-off corners, I think you're really gonna like the look of the device. I certainly do. Now, there's no pricing or availability information yet. In fact, there's no U.S. carrier announcement yet either. We do know that the phone is coming to China and to Russia in January followed by other countries in the Middle East, Europe, and the U.S. So, stay tuned for more information. I'm Jessica Dolcourt for CNET. You can catch all of our CES news at cnet.com.
