-I'm Nicole Lee, senior associate editor for cnet.com, and this is a First Look at the HTC Rezound for Verizon Wireless. The Rezound is the first ever HTC phone in the U.S. to support Beats audio technology. The Rezound even comes with a pair of Beats earbuds. When you plug these headphones into the headset jack, the phone will recognize that you plugged in a specific Beats audio headset. When you start playing some music for example, the Beats audio algorithm software will pop up in the notifications menu. The Beats audio software essentially boosts the audio quality of the music. It makes the volume much louder and the base much stronger. -Time flies on the-- -Aside from it's Beats audio technology, the Rezound is a pretty powerful phone. It comes with Verizon's 4G LTE support as well as a 1.5 gigahertz dual core processor. On the front of the Rezound is a gorgeous 4.3-inch super LCD display. It has 1280 x 720 pixel resolution, making it an HD resolution phone. Also on the back of the phone are an array of ridges for better grip, and the overall phone has a very nice soft touch matte finish. To compliment the Beats audio integration, the HTC Rezound has black and red accents. The camera lens on the back has a nice red ring around it and the red accents carry on to the speaker grill and the touch central keys. In fact, if you take the back cover off, the entire back of the phone is red. One of the key features of the HTC Rezound is it's 8-megapixel camera. It has an f-stop of 2.2 and a 28-mm wide angle lens. It can capture low-light photos really well and has a panorama shot mode as well. It also supports 1080p HD video capture. As far as performance go, we found the dual-core processor really makes navigation speedy. The HTC Rezound goes for around $300 with a new 2-year service agreement with Verizon Wireless. HTC Rezound (Verizon Wireless) Review
The good: The HTC Rezound has a gorgeous 4.3-inch 720p HD display, a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, an 8-megapixel rear camera with dual-LED flash, a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, and Verizon's 4G/LTE speeds. It ships with a pair of Beats earbuds along with a Beats Audio algorithm designed to enhance audio quality.
The bad: The HTC Rezound is quite bulky and call quality could be better. The Beats Audio software can only be toggled in the Music app.
The bottom line: While it may have a hefty build, the HTC Rezound's beautiful display, commendable performance, and multimedia-rich features make it a top phone for Verizon customers.
