>> Dan: I'm Dan Ackerman and we're here taking a look at HP's Pavilion DV3. Now, 13 inch laptops especially inexpensive ones are always gonna catch our eye because we're pretty fond to saying that a 13 inch laptop is probably the biggest size we'd be able to carry around with us on a regular basis, but also the smallest size we'd be able to kind of sit there and work on all day. So it kind of fits that perfect middle ground between mainstream 15 inch laptops and kind of the ultra portable laptops and the Netbooks. So it's always good to see a low-priced 13 inch system like this DV3 from HP. It starts at around $799, it's highly configurable you can really choose a bunch of different processors, more or less RAM, a lot of hard drive options, but you are restricted to AND processors and, of course, in our testing against other systems that cost the same with Intel processors it's not quite as fast. Like most of the Pavilion lineup from HP right now the DV3 has a bronze tint to it it's got kind of a cross hatched pattern on the keyboard tray, it's got this highly mirrored touch-pad and mouse buttons and it's got this cool touch-sensitive control strip at the top. The little buttons turn orange or blue or white depending on whether you're turning like your WiFi off and on or you're muting the speakers. Now while the DV3 is less expensive than a very popular 13 inch like the MacBook it's also a little bit slower, it's also thicker and heavier. Part of that comes from this gigantic battery on the back that actually lifts the whole system up but the DV3 does get excellent battery life, we got more than 4 hours out of it on our very grueling battery drain tests. Now it's not gonna be the fanciest laptop at the coffee shop but if you love that 13 inch size and we do and a lot of other people do and you don't want to spend a lot of bread check out the HP DV3. ^E00:01:44
HP's hot new Pavilion HDX weighs 15.5 pounds, has a 20-inch screen, and is a laptop in name only. This mobile home theater has a huge screen and a dockable remote control, and it should come with a weight belt.
Best Buy listened to its customers and then teamed up with HP to create the Pavilion dv3510nr, one of the big box store's first Blue Label laptops. This sleek-yet-loaded 13-inch laptop deserves a blue ribbon, too, for its all-around excellence and value.
A fast hard drive and a peppy processor help make HP's Pavilion dv4-2155dx a solid mainstream laptop--as long as you don't need good battery life.
From fast performance, to a Blu-ray drive, to plentiful other features, HP's Pavilion Slimline includes almost everything we'd ask for in our ideal living room slim tower PC. It will seem expensive if you're more inclined to a Nettop or a set-top box, but for committed PC media enthusiasts, this HP offers the complete package.
HP's slick-looking 12-inch Pavilion dv2 carves out a niche between entry level Netbooks and expensive ultraportables.
At CES 2011, Molly Wood and Dan Ackerman check out the HP Pavilion DM1, an ultralight 11-inch laptop that uses an AMD Fusion processor.
We like the HP Pavilion dv6000's attractive design and multimedia features, but initial performance results are a bit underwhelming. We thought this Core 2 Duo laptop would be speedier.
Starting at $549, the HP Pavilion dm3 aims to be an affordable Windows 7 thin-and-light laptop for those who don't want a thicker (and more tricked-out) machine, yet still want to accomplish tasks without feeling limited to Netbook-style performance.
HP's latest multimedia system, the Pavilion dm4, is a powerful, slick-looking package--but some competitors in the same price range offer more features for less.
The configuration of the HP Pavilion a6700y almost feels phoned in by sticking a wireless network adapter in a desktop with relatively slow performance for its price range.
