>> Dan Ackerman here at CES 2009 with the HP Pavilion dv2. Now, when HP said they had another AMD-powered multimedia laptop, I thought, "All right. That's not very interesting." But then I found out this is the very first laptop that had AMD's Athlon Neo platform in it. And that is Athlon's sort of answer to the Intel Atom. It takes the basic concept of a netbook, bumps it up a little bit, tries to find that sweet spot between the small, inexpensive laptop, and a really expensive ultraportable. Those are those really pricey $2,000.00 plus 12-inch laptops. What we have here is a 12-inch model. It's fairly thin, fairly light. And with the Athlon Neo CPU and the included ATI graphics, it can actually run Windows Vista, Arrow, and play back AC content fairly smoothly. Those are tasks that would bring your average netbook to its knees. You can look for the dv2 coming pretty soon, at a price a little bit above a netbook, but certainly well below $1,000.00. I'm Dan Ackerman from CES 2009, and that is the HP Pavilion dv2. ^M00:01:02 [ Music ]

HP Pavilion dv2 Review
The good: First laptop to use new AMD Athlon Neo CPU; best-looking budget 12-inch laptop we've seen; 4GB of RAM.
The bad: Netbook-style performance at mainstream-laptop prices; no internal optical drive; unimpressive battery life.
The bottom line: HP's slick-looking 12-inch Pavilion dv2 carves out a niche between entry-level Netbooks and expensive ultraportables.
