>> Hi, I'm Justin Yu, Assistant Editor for CNET.com and this is the HP Pavilion a6620 Desktop PC. It's a mid-range computer that gives you a solid configuration of components in a pretty attractive package. Now a lot of budget computers that we see in this price range really don't look so good, but this HP is actually fairly easy on the eyes. The glossy black chassis upfront here blends well into any home office and it's got a pretty decent amount of extra features. There's a media card reader up top, a dual layer DVD burner below it and there's an empty expansion bay below that in case you wanna install a portable hard rive later on. At the bottom, you've got your standard USB 2.0 port and a FireWire port. And the back is pretty typical for a budget system as well, but HP was kind enough to include digital audio out and in. Unfortunately, there's no VGA video out, so if you're using a digital only display, you'll need to bust out that video adapter. Now the components aren't that bad either. You get a dual core 2.5 gigahertz Intel processor, 4-gigabytes of RAM, a low grade integrated video chip and 500-gigs of hard drive space. Internal expansion isn't bad either. There's room for a secondary hard drive, a video card and a few PCI Express slots, but for some reasons the computer also has a 56k modem. But you can actually get another PC slot out of it when you're ready to join the 21st century. One thing we don't like, however, is that all four memory sticks slots are filled with 1-gig DIMMs. That means that if and when you wanna upgrade in the future, you'll be forced to sacrifice at least a gig of memory. So in a side-by-side comparison with the Dell Inspiron 530-115B, we actually found that the Dell gives you more for your money with a faster processor and an extra 140 gigs of space, all for less than $50 more than the a6620f, but HP does get a few extra points for adding that digital audio port. Either way, we do recommend taking a serious look at both the Dell and our full length review before you make a buying decision. HP's latest multimedia system, the Pavilion dm4, is a powerful, slick-looking package--but some competitors in the same price range offer more features for less.
A TV, a digital recorder, a stereo, and--oh, yes--a powerful computer, the HP Pavilion zd8000 is one of the very best multimedia powerhouses on the market.
We like the HP Pavilion dv6000's attractive design and multimedia features, but initial performance results are a bit underwhelming. We thought this Core 2 Duo laptop would be speedier.
With the Pavilion dv5000z series, HP delivers a well-designed and versatile multimedia laptop that starts at a highly affordable price point.
The HP Pavilion m6 borrows some of Envy's high-end design
This near-ultrabook packs in processing and graphics power, along with an optical drive, at a reasonable price.
We'd recommend the HP Pavilion Elite h8xt to anyone in the market for well-rounded, higher-end desktop, and for headphone users especially; the included Beats Audio software will provide a marginal boost to audio output.

The good: Built-in digital audio; stylish good looks; decent amount of upgradability.
The bad: Faster PCs with better components are available for less.
The bottom line: The HP Pavilion a6620f makes a decent case for its budget price. We like the design and the built-in digital-audio ports, and if you're on an unbreakable budget, the a6620f will get you through a variety of processes, but we recommend saving up for a system that will give you a more powerful set of components for a negligible price difference.
