First, don't break your contract with your service provider. -If you just bought an iPhone 4S a year ago, you may not be eligibles. You kind of really need to check with your carrier first. If not, you might have to pay full price. -For a 16-gig iPhone, that's $450. You can also save on your monthly bills. -Wanna hold on to your precious unlimited data plan? Resist the urge to pre-order online. You'll have better luck grandfathering in your plan if you talk to your service provider in person. -To offset cost further, consider selling your old iPhone to a site like Gazelle. A 16-gig iPhone 4S in perfect condition fetches around $250. Apple offers a gift card in the same amount when you recycle your 4S through them. Philanthropic types can donate the phone to a charity such as cellphones for soldiers. Before you part with your old phone though, some advice. -You wanna do reset phones. In fact, your settings wiped it completely so any personal data is off. You know, your connection with your iTunes account that's cleared, photos, apps, all of that. Just make sure of course you back up your device first. -And wait until your new phone is up and running to ditch the old one or you might get stuck without a working phone.
