>> Gmail and other e-mail providers support the standard plus addressing scheme, but what is it and how's it gonna help you. Well, the plus method of addressing lets you add additional words to your account. For example, if your e-mail address is cnetforever@gmail.com, you could add the plus sign in shopping when you give your e-mail address to any online stores that you shop at. Now your e-mail would look like this, but why would you wanna do this? Well, just think of the plus sign and the word as an extra keyword or tag that you can use to better manage your messages. So you can go in the Gmail settings and create a filter for e-mail sent to that address and associate a specific label with them too. We'll make shopping the label here. Now, e-mail sent to that address will always have the shopping label on them, so you can separate them from the rest of your messages. And just a heads up, be aware that not all e-mail systems recognize or accept plus addresses, so the best way is to just find out and see if it works with the site you use. I'm Brian Tong for CNET.com and there's a Quick Tip for using the plus sign to get the most out of your Gmail account. ^M00:01:11 [ Music ]
