>> Hey there, I'm Josh Goldman, senior editor for CNET Reviews here with a few digital camera shopping suggestions for this holiday season. Canon's PowerShot Digital ELPH cameras are always popular with CNET's readers and there are lots of models kicking around the season but one of our favorites is the Canon PowerShot SD790IS. For around 200 dollars you get a pretty standard point and shoot 10-megapixel camera with 3 times zoom and a big 3-inch LCD for framing your shots, all that in a package that easily slips into a pocket. While its shot-to-shot times aren't stellar the quality of the photos is. In fact it's some of the best we've seen from a compact camera. Plus you get optical image stabilization to help with camera shake. Now if you're a little rough on your cameras or you spend more time of road than on, you wanna check out a Olympus' lines of shock and waterproof pocket cameras like the Stylus 1030SW. This 10-megapixel camera's photos and performance are good, but it's the rugged sealed body that's waterproof, crush proof, shock proof and freeze proof that makes it a standout. Anyone spending time skiing or snowboarding will want to check out another model on the line, the 1050SW. It has a unique touch control system that makes it easier to shoot with gloves on. You'll pay a little extra for the protection. The 1030 sells for around 350 dollars but you can't beat that kind of sturdiness. If sleek and sexy is more what you're after, Sony's T series cameras, the T700 and the T500 that I have here are worth checking out. Both are 10-megapixel ultra compact cameras, 3-and-a-half-inch touchscreen LCDs on back and have very similar features but each has a unique feature to the model. The T500's special feature is that it records video at a high-def quality of 720p and also takes still images. But the T700 featured on our gift guide has 4 gigs of internal memory making a really cool portable photo album and it's even cooler because of the touchscreen. Both can be picked up for about 400 dollars each and though the photo quality maybe doesn't live up to that price, everything else about them does. Well that does it for what we have here but to see what other models are worth considering for those on your shopping list, head to CNET.com and click on the holiday gift guide 2008 link and for full reviews of these and other cameras, visit the digital camera section of CNET.com. I'm Josh Goldman thanks for watching. ^M00:02:40 [ Music ]
