>> Hey. I'm Donald Bell, senior editor for digital, audio, and MP3, and today we're taking a First Look at the Hercules DJ Console RMX. What we've got here is a rugged and relatively inexpensive way to turn your laptop into a full-fledged digital DJ rig. At around $350.00, the DJ Console RMX package includes a combination of Mac and PC DJ software, and more importantly, intimidating and professional USB powered hardware that acts both as a software controller and four-channel sound card. The software is usable, but it's ugly as sin, and we highly recommend upgrading it. The hardware, however, is a steal at this price. It's built with an all-metal enclosure that weighs around 10 pounds and comes with an impressive amount of high quality inputs and outputs, illuminated buttons, and weighted jog wheels. All the DJ essentials are here, including EQ controls, crossfader, headphone, queue mix, transport controls, mike input, pitch adjustment, and even a selection of effects. And unlike entry-level systems like the M-Audio Torq Mixlab, the Hercules hardware is so well built that it should have no problem surviving a rowdy crowd or a few drops in the DJ booth. I'm Donald Bell, and that was a First Look at the Hercules DJ Console RMX. ^M00:01:12 [ Music ]

Hercules DJ Console Rmx Review
The good: The Hercules DJ Console Rmx combines a club-worthy USB mixer with DJ software.
The bad: The Hercules DJ Console Rmx hardware is heavy, lacks MIDI output, and the software is unattractive and limited.
The bottom line: As an entry-level digital DJ package, the Hercules DJ Console Rmx offers high-quality hardware at an outstanding value, but you'll want to spend a little more for better software.
