Hands-on with the light-as-air Lenovo IdeaTab Lynx tablet Video Transcript

-I'm Rich Brown for CNET. We're here at Lenovo's big Windows 8 laptop unveiling and I have here the Lynx. This is the full-blown Windows 8 hybrid laptop. This is about 3 pounds, $599 for the tablet up here, $149 for the keyboard accessory. Lenovo sets 16 hours of battery life for the whole operation here, 8 from the tablet and another 8 when you plug it into the keyboard. Overall, pretty straightforward laptop set-up when it's like this. It is a touchscreen of course. Take it up, [unk] with the button down, pull the screen out and it comes out in Tablet mode. It's 11.6-inch tablet. It's running Windows 8 again, full-blown, Clovertrail CPU from Intel. It's basically a new generation Adam chip. For ports, nothing here; on this side, there's a volume button, power over here. What's made me most impressed about this whole set-up is how light this tablet is. It comes in just about 1 pound. It sort of feels lighter than the iPad or any other tablet that I've held. So, it's just a quick look at this thing while we can here at the event and we'll get a review of this as soon as we can. I'm Rich Brown. This is Lenovo Lynx.

Lenovo IdeaTab Lynx Review

Editors' rating

The good: The IdeaTab Lynx is well-balanced when plugged into its keyboard base, and offers good battery life, and a bigger-screen alternative to Lenovo's other Atom tablet.

The bad: The keyboard has too much flex, and the docking hinge sticks. For only a little more, better products are available.

The bottom line: The IdeaTab Lynx is a perfectly functional Windows 8 hybrid but lacks the lower price of some competitors, or better design and features of others.
