>> There are a bunch of search applications already available for Windows Mobile phone. But in the massive tug of war that is the mobile apps market, there's always room for one more. I'm Jessica Dulcort with CNET Download.com, and I'm talking about Google mobile app for Windows Mobile phones. With Windows Mobile, Google has taken advantage of the home screen layout to offer a plug in that's about two third search bar, and one third shortcut icons that take you to other applications. You can decline the plug in too if you have a custom screen. As you begin typing in a search term the soft keys change to let you search or see more menu options. In addition to searching, you'll also be able to launch mobile versions of Google's popular services, including GMail, Google Docs, Picasso Photos, and Google Maps. If you don't have Google Maps already, pressing the button will prompt a download. You'll be able to see all the services you can access when you press the tiny plus icon to the right of the app. There are a few extras you can get in the options menu, including changing your location, specifying a domain to search, and disabling or clearing your search history, which will otherwise show up when you start typing a search term. Even if you don't want to install the home screen plug in, you'll still use the application the same way when you launch it from the program menu. To get to Google's mobile app faster on some phones, you may be able to program it into your start menu, or you can map it to a hard key on your phone. On this phone I set it to pop up when I press the camera button once. Google Mobile app is a quick and easy way to search, call up maps, and jump to your Gmail. I'd recommend it for anyone who frequently searches, or checks their Google applications. To get it, point the mobile browser to m.google.com/search.
