>> Google's Mobile app for BlackBerry has always been good, but now the big G has added two major features to make its search app even more competitive, voice search and the GPS-powered My Location feature. I'm Jessica Dolcourt and this is your First Look at Google Mobile app for BlackBerry Version 3.3. Google Mobile app looks almost exactly the same way it did before, except now you'll see a small green box in the middle of the screen that instructs you how to use the voice search feature. Just press and hold the talk button to get started. Let go when you're done speaking and the search app cycles to find your results. Google has also built this app to understand British English. I'm not even going to attempt to demonstrate that here, so don't hold your breath. The second addition is a small blue ball at the bottom of your screen. This is the My Location feature that's also seen in Google Maps for mobile phones. If your BlackBerry has GPS already stitched-in your location will be pretty darn precise. If not Google's use of cell phone towers usually does a good job pinning your location within your zip code. You can't change your zip code manually however, so if My Location doesn't work for you, you'll need to add your whereabouts in your search query. As in previous versions Google's mobile app lets you browse and edit your search history for faster subsequent searching. It also keeps the time saving shortcut icons to Gmail and Google Maps and if these apps aren't installed it will trigger a download. You'll still be able to quickly open up Google News and Google Reader on the phone's browser and access your calendar, Picasa web photos and Google Sync from the More menu. Google Mobile app is free, but your BlackBerry must run version 4.1 of the operating system for the app to work. You'll need version 4.2 or higher to enable the voice search. This is a fantastic app that keeps getting better and anyone who searches for anything on Google should try it out. I'm Jessica Dolcourt. This has been Google Mobile app for BlackBerry Version 3.3. ^M00:01:51 [ Music ]
