Google Drive coming to iOS and Chrome OS Video Transcript
Google drive is all about making it really easy to live life in the class. And that starts by making all of your files available on your devices anyway. And to do that we've built a really nice web interface. Desktop sync applications for windows and for Mac. And also really really nice -- -- -- But like with Chrome we want drive to be available on every platform. And so today I'm really excited to announce for making it available on IOS and on Chrome OS. So let me start here on on IOS your iPad. It's gonna zoom out a -- And -- just open up drive. And you can see the interface is really really fluid it works just like you'd expect you can browse through. Dozens and dozens of file types here -- pull up -- a photo. The bigger photo and remember and down. Everything just works like you'd expect but it's not just browsing that we made available on the IOS experience. We brought a lot of the best features and drive right to the mobile and tablet experience. So for example I'm I'm an open up the -- of receipts here. -- big nerd I'd -- all of my receipts on but I also too lazy to actually title Andy's but I know that somewhere in here. There is a received from the post office with a tracking them. So what I can do here is just search. I'm gonna type certified. Mail. I think that -- was in there somewhere. And just like that. I can pull up the -- Notice this isn't a text file. There's no -- here -- haven't written anything instead we used optical character recognition technology to actually extract attacks. From -- can index it and then make it searchable. Now the cool thing is that doesn't just work with tax. It doesn't just work with tax it works with bonus to me show you and me. So here I have a big pile of photos they took a trip with my -- through Africa last year and I know somewhere in here are photos and I -- appearance but again. And and title like my my photos and and and keywords but if -- search for pyramids. In the search. Up -- the images. Again you can actually -- image recognition technology to peer inside and images actually understand the content I don't have to do anything no labels and -- India and nothing. Just works. So of course I don't always have an Internet connection and so drive makes it really easy to just save things cast off lines are here. I'll just save this manual -- points I can read it whenever. -- and course at its core drive is about enabling sharing and collaboration. So I can add users to collaborate on documents with me right from now. So here's the good relevant document here. I haven't gotten very far. But I -- and -- Brian right here he's a backstage. And out and see if he has any other ideas it and edit access and added him right there -- welcome back to that second. So that's cool -- and on IOS to build an iPad iPhone and iPod Touch later today. Check it out if you like it. We need over the Chrome but now I wanna show you drive on -- -- so. Of course drive does a lot more than just sync your files to the class and it enables an amazing applications one illness is real time collaboration. In the cloud -- with applications like Google docs so I'm gonna open up this document here. There ego and I'm also gonna pull out on my Smartphone and on my tablet. And here's everything -- across all of my devices. Right keystroke by keystroke I can -- and it's everything just works. Now this last point is an important one. Google docs works great if you're connected to the Internet but what if you're -- -- -- don't have a connection when about ten. We've been thinking about that. And we're really excited to announce that today -- documents works for -- off line. They say how this works so what I would do is I would turn off wireless on laptop here and I'm just gonna unplug. The ethernet cable so there it is it's unplugged. And -- you and I -- in fact offline New York Times. No connection. I can just go back to my mobile dock. I can keep and it. Just like an online. All the format and still works. And you'll see that the -- -- just noticed gracefully and offline. All of my -- all my changes are just saved locally to a local cache and I can keep on without even thinking that all just works without -- noticed. So but -- do now is -- made some changes offline meaning and Brian folks backstage and making some more changes. I'm gonna close this document. All my changes are saved when -- -- ethernet Mac and and now watch what happens when I open the document -- it's gonna happen pretty quickly. -- an open back up and drive and like that it's gonna be sync back to the cloud and you'll see across all of my devices updated in real time. So let me open up the drive web interface it is -- an open of this document and get ready as it happens quick. There is emeritus. And once you -- feature -- move on the next thing so that's. Google documents working offline. On it's available today -- working on off point presentations and spreadsheets to those are coming soon but if you're flying back. On from little lamb and you don't have Internet on the plane -- Google -- it works great. Particularly on -- Google docs offline.
