>> Hi I'm Jessica Dolcourt with CNET Download.com and this is a First Look at Gom player. Gom owes its popularity as an all-in-one media player to wide file and Kodak support and advance playback features. Let's take a look. Once media files are dragged onto the screen or loaded into Gom player's play list, users can adjust the audio output. They can do that manually or with some handy preset combinations. The presets help optimize sound quality for your setup and genre. For example, bringing out that rocker club beat for music video or improving sound quality for jam and through laptop speakers. Gom plays audio files too but it's really intended for video playback so you're not gonna find a whole lot in the way of organization. Here's what you will find though--lots of image-centric tools; there's one for adjusting the video's contrast and brightness while it plays. Of course it would be better to do this before the video plays so you don't have to play it again to benefit from the lighting adjustments, but it's more than other free players offer. It also has tools to format videos with subtitles, useful for those favorite karaoke sing-alongs. I really like the built-in screen capture tool which grabs still shots from the running video and saves them in a separate folder as jpeg's or bit maps. There are a few extra skins to if you're not a fan of the player's black and orange look. What's missing is a help manual within the player and also options to save your settings to you that you don't have to tweak lighting adjustments each time you play a video. What's good is the playback quality and a helpful search for missing Kodaks you'll need to play a certain video. Of course Gom player won't always find the Kodaks and you'll want to make sure all third party software is safe before downloading. I'm Jessica Dolcourt and this is Gom player. ^M00:01:33 [ Music ] ^M00:01:36
