>> Rich Brown: Hi, I'm Rich Brown, Senior Editor for CNET.com. Today we're going to take a look at the Gateway SX2800-01. So this is actually an Editor's Choice winning slim tower PC. It goes for about 510 bucks and we found that it's the best equipped, best performing system in its retail price category. So this is actually a retail system and you'll find it on store shelves and that means it's not configurable. So what you see is what you get here but fortunately what you get is pretty good. Behind this door in the front panel you can see there is a DVD burner. Go down here to the bottom and you get a couple of USB ports, FireWire, media card reader and analog audio ports. The FireWire in particular is rare in PCs in this price range. When we go to the back you'll see that Gateway added a few more ports as well. You'll get a modem jack, 7.1 analog audio, digital audio out, Ethernet, 4 USB, an eSATA port, VGA for video and HDMI video as well as 2 standard mouse and keyboard. Now we think the benefit of the HDMI port and the size of this system really lets it be pretty flexible. You can put this in your living room if you want to have it be just sort of a standard definition media server and one of the reasons we really like this system for its productivity is its Quad Core CPU. Thanks to its 2.33 gigahertz Intel Core 2 quad, this system was in the top of all of our benchmark charts so it'll handle pretty much any mainstream media editing task you want to through at it. It leads faster than its budget competition. You have a 1X PCI express port up here. PC express graphics card slot up at the top and of course because of the narrow size of the case all of the cards are going to have to be half height. Underneath the CD-Rom drive here you can see there is actually a hard drive as well as the memory ports. It's a little bit complicated to get inside. You have to take off the front panel and pull out this whole carriage. But you do at least get 4 slots. So you have plenty of room to add memory if you want to. So from its fast performance, its compact size and its wide array of ports we're really pretty big fans of this system. That's why I've given an Editor's Choice award. So I'm Rich Brown this is the Gateway SX 2800-01. [Music]

Asus Essentio

The Asus Essentio is perhaps the best conceived of the recent round of living-room-friendly slim tower desktops. It's just powerful enough, and it comes with the right mix of features to allow it to do what living room PCs do best, without overreaching.

Gateway ZX6810-01

The Gateway One ZX6810-01 makes a strong first impression for Windows 7-based all-in-ones PCs, with fast performance and an attractive case design. Its touch input and accompanying applications fall flat, but there's enough respectable computer here that it's worth a look. Our only suggestion is that you wait to inspect the rest of the new Windows 7 crowd once they are released.
