>> Hi, I'm Molly Wood from CNET.com, at CES 2008. I am taking a first look at the Gateway FX7020 desktop. Now this is part of Gateway's FX gaming brand, so you may be thinking high end specs. You're going to get them. There's an AMD quad core 9600 built in here, nVidia GT8800 graphics card with 512 megs of graphics memory, a 500 gig hard drive, 3 gigs of memory, and it's ten ninety nine. The idea behind this desktop is that it's an affordable machine that's actually going to be available to people in retail stores. So you'll be able to walk into a store, spend about a thousand dollars, and get what is arguably a high end gaming rig. [ background music ] Again, this is the Gateway FX7020, and that's the story. Gateway's FX7020 matches an AMD quad-core CPU and a fast Nvidia graphics card to make a compelling gaming PC, with some basic multimedia features to boot.
At CES 2008, Dan Ackerman takes a look at this high-end gaming laptop from Gateway.
Gateway's affordable multimedia laptop, the MD7818u, has some high-end design touches, but is a little too big for travel.
The affordable Gateway LX6810-01 scores high points for offering high-end components right off the shelf.
The Gateway FX7026 offers a quad-core processor at a modest price tag with specifications that any high-end gamer will be satisfied with. You might want to replace the peripherals and the video card down the road, but this system is an excellent option for a nonconfigurable, off-the-shelf desktop.
We don't know how Gateway makes money selling these things, but the combination of high-end components and low price makes the 17-inch Gateway P-7811FX the best mobile gaming deal going right now.
Gateway's SX2800-01 offers a strong combination of performance and features all wrapped up in a design that fully embraces the merits of a slim tower PC. We recommend this system to anyone looking for a fast, affordable desktop for the home office, the living room, or anywhere in between.
At CES 2008, Molly Wood takes a look at the Nyko Wireless Nunchuck, a new gaming accessory for the Wii.
The Gateway DX4831-01e is the midtower version of the Editors' Choice award-winning SX2840-01 and exhibits equally impressive performance scores while offering ample room for expansion. We recommend this system to budget-minded shoppers who are looking for a powerful, affordable midtower desktop computer.
Budget computer shoppers, take note: if you're looking for an affordable way to get Blu-ray on a laptop, the Core i3-powered Gateway NV5933u is one of the best values around.
