>> Hi, I'm Bonnie Cha, Senior Associate Editor at CNET.com and today we're taking a first look at the Garmin Street Pilot C580. This is pretty much like the rest of the C500 series, except this one has MSN Direct Services. So what you can do is get movie times and local gas prices and traffic and weather information in real time. Set up is really easy. The receiver is integrated into the car charger so all you have to do is plug that into your cigarette lighter and connect up to the C580 and you'll get all the information. It works really great. Does take some time to gather all the information, but it's all accurate. Navigation is easy. Interface is really nice and easy to understand. All maps are pre-loaded onto the device as well as points of interest. You get text to speech functionality, so it'll actually speak street names to you.
>> Turn right onto Vecidarrow [assumed spelling] Street.
>> You also get multimedia capabilities. It only plays MP3's though, so that's a bit limited. The C580 also has integrated Blue Tooth so you can connect your Blue Tooth enabled phone and make hands free calls with the device. During our test drive it gave is really accurate directions so it was good. The points of interest were a bit outdated. We found that to be typical of most GPS devices. The Garmin Street Pilot C580 is available at launch for about 800 dollars. To use the MSN Direct Services, you get a year's free subscription but afterwards you'll have to pay 50 dollars a year or a one time fee of 129.95. I'm Bonnie Cha, this has been the Garmin Street Pilot C580. ^M00:01:34 [ Music ]

Garmin StreetPilot c580 Review
The good: The Garmin StreetPilot c580 now offers MSN Direct services so you can get real-time traffic and weather information as well as local gas prices and movie times. The unit also has text-to-speech functionality, integrated Bluetooth, and multimedia capabilities, and it provides accurate directions.
The bad: The MSN Direct service isn't available in all areas, and names of gas stations weren't always provided. The c580's media player also only supports the MP3 format.
The bottom line: In addition to accurate driving directions, the high-end Garmin StreetPilot c580 provides a number of useful tools to the driver, such as real-time traffic data and local gas prices, thanks to the integration of MSN Direct services.
