>> Hey I'm Tom Merritt, Editor from CNET.com here at CES 2008 taking a look at the Garmin Nuvi 880. Now if you're not familiar with the Garmins go take a look; we've reviewed a bunch of these things, they're great navigation devices, one of our favorites. The cool thing about the 880 is two things; it's got the MSN direct second generation so you can access some cool content on the go, but it also has speech recognition; that's the coolest part. You take this little device here and maybe put it on your steering wheel, put it somewhere comfortable for you to grab and when you're ready to talk you activate it; that way if you're sitting around talking about your Garmin it doesn't activate it like it would with other devices. So let's see if we can show you how to speak an address--you just say where you're going, tell it what you're doing while you're driving, no problem and you can also ask for restaurants, all kinds of other things using the MSN Direct as well. I'm gonna give it a shot here--address.

>> What city in Nevada?

>> Las Vegas.

>> Las Vegas. What house number?

>> 3225.

>> 301025 correct?

>> No.

>> 3225.

>> 3225 correct?

>> Yes.

>> Yes.

>> What street in Las Vegas?

>> Paradise road.

>> Well you get the idea. You probably won't have a large PA system in your car so the fact that it could get anything out of this at all is pretty impressive. If you use a touch screen, you can access the MSN direct area and you can get things like weather, stock prices; one of the cooler things is gas prices. It can actually tell you the price of gas in the nearby area based on a database provided by the oil companies to MSN so you can find the cheapest gas before you even get out of the car; you don't have to try to look at all those signs and things like that. You can also find points of interest like you can with other GPS devices; ask for restaurants but the cool thing is that you can do it all by speech recognition. Say, this will be coming out sometime in the spring Q2ish, and it will retail for 999 dollars. Once again it's the Garmin Nuvi 880 at CES 2008. I'm Tom Merritt. ^M00:02:38 [ Music ] ^M00:02:42
