Gadgets you can't live without Video Transcript

Welcome to CNET Top 5, where each time we meet we count down another hot CNET list. I'm Tom Merritt. Awhile back, I told you my Top 5 tech products I couldn't live without. And boy, did I hear from y'all--in a good way. So, I put all your responses together and compiled them into a list. Let's count down the Top 5 products you can't live without. At No. 5, the Xbox 360. You want to play games. A couple folks mentioned the PS3 or PS2, but overwhelmingly, it was the Xbox you favored. Not even a mention of the Wii! Coming in at No. 4, HDTV. Doesn't matter what kind, but it does matter what size. Big. At least 32 inches anyway. Nobody said a brand name. Up to No. 3, earphones. You're alone on the island, but hey, so what. You did mention specific brands, but nobody could agree which one. In fact, only the Bose was mentioned more than once. Sliding in at No. 2. The iPhone. Hey, you mentioned by name over and over again. One person said LG Dare. A few people said BlackBerry. But the vast majority wanted the Apple phone. Before we get to No. 1, we're going to play a little game. Winner gets this miniature wireless mouse, to make life easier when you're on the desert isle. First person to go to the Top 5 post for this episode on blog.cnettv.com and correctly tell me what No. 6 on this list would have been, wins the mouse. Get to guessing. All right. Let's get to our No. 1. The No. 1 piece of tech you can't live without is... ... a laptop. Smart choice. And more than half of you specified the MacBook, too. As long as you have power and an Internet connection on this magical deserted island, you can do a lot. Like sending an e-mail asking for rescue. The metaphor gets muddy when you talk tech, but suffice to say, the laptop in all its guises is the essential gadget of the CNET crowd. Well that's it for this edition of CNET Top 5. Be sure to post your guess about No. 6 at blog.cnettv.com. I'm Tom Merritt. See you next time.
