>> Hey, it's Justin Yu, associate editor for CNET.com, here to give you a First Look at this Fujitsu HandyDrive external hard drive. Now, this only comes in black, but it also comes in four capacities, 250, 320, 400, and 500 gigabytes. Now, this one is 320-gigs, and it currently costs $85.00, or 27 cents per gigabyte, which makes this external drive the best deal for the money we've tested so far. Now, as you can see, there aren't really a lot of bells and whistles in the design department, and compared to other drives that have fancy features like a rugged exterior, glossy colors, the Fujitsu seems pretty bland. Now, there's only two ports on the top here, a mini USB plug for connecting your computer, and an external DC in port. The drive is entirely powered by USB, so you shouldn't need that extra power, but it's nice to have just in case. Now, there's another story inside the hood as well. Underneath this shiny plastic is a layer of shock endurance to protect from light impact, but it's definitely not gonna be as tough as other drives that offer an external buffer as well. Now, we conducted our speed test, as always, and found that the HandyDrive is as fast as it is cheap at 27.94 megabytes per second to read, and 22.5 megabytes per second to write our 10-gigabyte folder. Now, the only drive that tested faster was the Transcend Storage at 25F, which is actually more expensive. Now, finally, we also liked that Fujitsu offers an extensive three-year warranty with the drive. Now, with all the abuse that external drives suffer through, we applaud Fujitsu's commitment to their products. So overall, the Fujitsu HandyDrive is an excellent option for shoppers that aren't really focused mainly on design. It's affordable, fast, and easily secures our buying recommendation. So I'm Justin Yu, and you just took a First Look at the Fujitsu HandyDrive external hard drive. Thanks for watching. ^M00:01:46 [ Music ]

Lenovo ThinkPad USB Secure Hard Drive
We're impressed by the Lenovo ThinkPad USB Secure Hard Drive's burly security features and rigorous performance results, but the bloated price tag prevents us from recommending it to anyone other than business consumers. The Memorex Travel Speaker offers a compact, foldable design and some handy extras, but the so-so sound quality and cheap plastic construction will likely be a turnoff for some potential buyers.

We all know that invading space aliens have one primary objective, and that is to impregnate human kind. That and possibly to collect today's assortment of handy gadgets for use on their own planet. Meanwhile, there we'll be, doing their alien chores and cooking their alien dinners for them with no ability to break from their alien spell. Aren't we just a sad bunch of humanoid life forms?
With a thick chassis and features that don't rise above the pack, the Fujitsu M2010 will have a hard time breaking through the clutter of less-expensive systems.

Fujitsu HandyDrive (400GB) Review
The good: Super cheap cost per gigabyte; competitive transfer speeds; built-in shock protection; three-year warranty.
The bad: Boring design with no alternate color options.
The bottom line: The Fujitsu HandyDrive isn't very small or exceptionally well-designed, but like all the best things in life, it's fast and cheap. At 26 cents per gigabyte, the HandyDrive gives the best deal for your dollar, and we recommend it to those who are running out of space on their system hard drives.
