>> David: Hi I'm David Carnoy, Executive Editor for CNET.com and I'm here to give you a video tour of the Flip Video MinoHD; this is the Next Generation of the Flip Video, YouTube friendly, we call them mini camcorders. Now, if you've seen a Mino before you'll probably notice that this looks identical to that model really the only difference on the outside on this is that it says MinoHD on the back and this one comes in black right now. You can also customize both the Mino and the Mino HD by going to Flip Videos website and you can create a custom design Mino or MinoHD. On the inside, however, there is a different sensor which captures HD video; this is a 720P video; this is not your true HD camcorder the video quality is not that good but with a key difference here is that this looks sharp on your computer screen, it can go much bigger, it can scale, and is sharp, which is really a nice advancement. The other thing we liked about this model compared to the Kodak Zi6 is that this model has a built-in lithium ion rechargeable battery it's also smaller than that model and the video is slightly better. This model, like the Mino, has a small LCD screen on the back it's 1 point 4, 6 inches diagonally but you can view it in brightly lit environments. The buttons on the back are touch-sensitive and they are pretty responsive sometimes they're just a tad too responsive and you'll accidentally touch a button; this is very simple to operate really you just hit the red button to record, hit it again to stop recording. After you're through shooting all of these YouTube friendly mini camcorders have a USB connector built in and you just plug this into your computer and the software launches automatically. This has one-touch uploading to YouTube, AOL Video, and MySpace so you do have to sign up for those accounts; this only comes with composite video and audio connectors so there is no component or a little mini HDMI jack; there's a threaded tripod mount on the bottom. As far as the drawbacks go a couple things we noted, the rechargeable battery is not replaceable it's built into the camera and there is no slot for additional memory the 4 gigabytes that comes with this mini camcorder is what you get; that records about an hour of video. The other thing that we should mention is that this battery only lasts 2 hours, which is half as long as the 4 hour battery life of the standard Mino. So video quality and being able to blow your videos up a little bit bigger is a concern; this is definitely a better choice, if you're just really shooting for YouTube and sending out emails you will be able to save some money on some of the step-down models. I'm David Carnoy and that's the Flip Video MinoHD. ^E00:02:54

Flip Video MinoHD (black) Review
The good: Solid 720p video, particularly for a camcorder this size; ultraslim yet functional design; easy to use; one-touch video uploading to YouTube, AOL, and MySpace; integrated lithium ion rechargeable battery; FlipShare software is compatible with both Macs and Windows machines.
The bad: Somewhat pricey; no SD/MMC card expansion slot; rechargeable battery isn't removable or replaceable; can't output HD to HDTVs.
The bottom line: While it has its flaws and is a bit expensive, the ultrasimple Flip Video MinoHD produces impressive video for a camcorder of its size.
