>> Hey, I'm Donald Bell CNET senior editor for digital audio and MP3 and today we're at the iPod event, the Apple launch event for the new iPod Touch. This is the Touch. Very thin, very cool looking and it uses the same multi touch, touch screen technology as the iPhone. Looks remarkably like a very thin version of the iPhone actually. It's all the great features that were in the iPhone's iPod including dedicated buttons for the music, videos, photos, even a UTube connection, and or a Safari web browser connection. You can see on the back of the iPod Touch here, there's a little nub here just for the WIFI antenna. So that means this is a WIFI enabled device. It doesn't have the Edge Network connectivity like a phone would, like the iPhone. But still if you go into any WIFI hotspot, you can use your new iPod Touch to browse the Internet. And also, there's a new iTunes WIFI store in the new iPod Touch. This lets you browse the entire iTunes store collection, preview it, and download it directly to the device. Download a song so it will sync right back up to your iTunes library when you sync this back up to your home computer. So it's very beautiful, very thin. Differences that will mark this from the iPhone is that you actually have a normal headphone connection jack on the bottom of the iPod Touch instead of the recessed headphone jack that was on the iPhone. You also don't have the built in speakers that you would have found on the iPhone. We don't mind that. We're definitely happy to see a normal headphone connection on this device. So the iPod Touch is going to be available in 8 gigabyte and 16 gigabyte capacities at 299 and 399 respectively. So that's a first look at the Apple iPod Touch. ^M00:01:43 [ Music ]

Apple iPod Touch (first generation, 16GB) Review

The good: The Apple iPod Touch has a large, video-worthy screen, a cutting-edge interface, and Wi-Fi Internet, e-mail, and music download capabilities.

The bad: The iPod Touch may cost too much for you, depending on your needs. It has a small capacity for a portable video player.

The bottom line: The iPod Touch is a beautiful product, inside and out, but prepare yourself for sticker shock.
