>> Hey, I'm Donald Bell editor for digital audio and MP3 here at CNET and today we're taking a first look at the Archos 605 WiFi portable video player. The Archos 605 comes with 4.3 inch LSD screen that supports resolutions up to 800 by 480. It comes in three different capacities. It comes in a huge 160 gigabyte capacity. It also comes in a 30 gigabyte capacity and a 4 gigabyte capacity. It is a touch screen player so you can use either the controls on the side or you can actually touch the screen to go to the different functions of the player. For an extra 30 dollars you can also buy, a plug in that gives it a dedicated web browser, the Opera Web Browser that you can use to browse the internet on any open WiFi connection. One of the cooler features on here if you spend another 99 dollars on this you can get a DVR feature that gives you this DVR dock that you can put the 605 in and it will act as a TBO S digital video recorder. This DVR station also comes with this really cool remote control. It has a full corded keypad on it, a little scroll wheel for mousing around the screen, and it's a really cool feature if you have this hooked up to television you can use the remote control to browse the internet from you couch, cue up movies, cue up music. So, there are some drawbacks to the 605. For instance, it doesn't come with the standard USB cable connection. You have to use their proprietary USB cable. Compared to the fourth generation series of the Archos Players the fifth generation series does not have any removable battery. The other drawback is that it comes out of the box with a lot of features but some of the features that you wish were included you have to pay extra for. Still, it's very affordable, it's very great. The Archos Players are really the gold standard of portable video players and a 605 WiFi is a great device. I'm Donald Bell and that is a first look at the Archos 605 WiFi Portable Video Player.
