>>What's up, I'm Brian Tong and welcome to the Apple Byte. It's everything good and bad inside the world of Apple, so let's jump in to the latest news. AT&T has announced that free AT&T Wi-Fi access is now available for Apple iPhone users at thousands of locations like airports, hotels and that green and brown grass thing that you'll never get rid of: Starbucks. AT&T actually made this announcement in February then took it back. Released another press release in July then took that back, but now it looks like it's here to stay. My producer Ariel was kind enough to let me out of my cage, so we could check it out. Ok I finally get a little fresh air. We're outside in front of a Starbucks. I wanna check out this AT&T Wi-Fi thing. Now to get setup the first thing you do wanna do is jump into your settings on your iPhone and then go to the Wi-Fi icon, click on that and it will show you a bunch of wireless networks in your area. Look for the AT&T Wi-Fi network and you wanna click on that and then you'll be connected. Now once you're connected get out of the settings and then you're gonna wanna select Safari. Go to Safari and instantly a AT&T Wi-Fi splash page should show up. They're gonna actually ask you to punch in your 10-digit cell phone number. Do that, accept the Terms and Conditions, press continue and viola! You should be surfing the net. There you go Wi-Fi for free at thousands of AT&T Wi-Fi locations. We checked it out here on the Apple Byte. Whether you like the coffee or not you are not gonna complain about free Wi-Fi. Now, name the US state that has yet to officially get the iPhone and that includes the first gen. I'm waiting for it. Well if you guess Vermont, you are correct. Now known for its native production of maple syrup and the Ben&Jerry's ice cream factory, AT&T has never had wireless coverage in the green mountain state, but area providers Verizon and Unicel have merged and to prevent a wireless monopoly, AT&T will be moving in. It might be months away, but get ready Vermontians or Vermonteans? iPhone 3G hysteria is coming.
