Fighting spam with two Gmail addresses Video Transcript

>> Did you know that Google actually gives you two e-mail addresses when you sign-up with them -- say what? I'm Brian Tong with CNET.com and I'll show you how to take advantage of them in this Quick Tip. ^M00:00:09 [ Music ] ^M00:00:12

>> When you created Gmail account, you actually get two e-mail addresses. Now, one is the standard at gmail.com and the second e-mail address has at googlemail.com in the domain. Now that means if your e-mail address is something like cnetforever@gmail.com all e-mail messages that are sent to cnetforever@googlemail.com will also be delivered to that same Gmail account. But here's one way you can take advantage of the two e-mails, give the at googlemail.com address to your close friends and contacts, while keeping the at gmail.com address for the general public or websites you signed up for. Now go in to the settings and create a Gmail filter, so all your e-mail messages sent to the at googlemail.com address will be labeled as personal or whatever you want. Then you'll never miss an important email from close friends and it will separate it from all the other e-mail or spam that you get. I'm Brian Tong for CNET.com and there's a Quick Tip for taking advantage of the two e-mails you get from Google. ^M00:01:06 [ Music ]
