A feisty ride in the Chevy Volt Video Transcript

>> Martin: This is Martin Lamonica [assumed spelling] with CNET News. I took a ride in the Electric Chevrolet Volt at GM's Milford Proving Ground in southeast Michigan on Tuesday. The driver was Frank Viber [assumed spelling]. The Global Vehicle Line Executive for the Volt. The car itself was a Mule or Test Version used by the Volt's Development Team. I was on the passenger's side with the video camera and 2 other journalists were in the backseat.

>> So everything you see on those screens here is not production.

>> This is not, okay, alright that's what I was wondering as we were seeing it.

>> No both screens are not production and they are good --

>> Oh what, we're not doing the performance loop?

>> No

>> This has a bit of pick-up here.

>> This is just --

>> That's your hatch -- [inaudible] or something. Okay, you've got control over that I see.

>> You have the same jump in the acceleration at all speeds. Is that --

>> What you have is you feel very couples to your car because there is no gear set; there is no lag like in the automatic. The Electric draw means that you are -- you just get into the car and you accelerate and it is more like fine than it is to drive a vehicle.

>> Yeah because you have that [inaudible] and it's just a wonderful experience.

>> Well, we are accelerating you certainly feel it.

>> Take this turn. ^M00:01:40 [ Background noise ] ^M00:01:59

>> Let's do 2.

>> Thanks for the ride Frank.

>> They will kill me if I don't --

>> Hey, you're expendable.

>> Everybody is.

>> New GM you got to take me.

>> Where is this car due back?

>> It is almost stolen from the Development Team just to bring you here and give you and share this experience with you.

>> Well, we appreciate it thanks a lot. ^M00:02:21 [ Music ]
