>> Certainly the Mac OSX Finder is a great way to organize your files and work efficiently, but what if there was an even better way to run your Mac? I'm Jason Parker from Download.com and this is a first look at Pathfinder for Mac OSX. Pathfinder is an efficient alternative to the Mac OSX Finder which lets you access files and apps in several different ways. Much like the Finder you can organize your files in the Column, List, and Icon views and you can sort through your files and Cover-flow view. But in Pathfinder you also get tabs for even more file management options to fit your workflow. You can drag files and flows between tabs to organize items to your liking. When you want to move files easily to another location, drag files to the Drop Stack then navigate to your preferred folder and drag the files to the new location. If you need to view two folders at once for comparison simply hit the Dual Window view; this allows you to view both folders simultaneously in the same window and you can drag folders and files between the two. If you hit the Space Bar while a file is selected you can get a quick preview of the file to make sure you have the right one before opening it. To use Pathfinder as your default file management tool launch the Pathfinder Desktop from the menu to get all the familiarity of the Finder with all the functionality of Pathfinder. Frankly, there are so many useful features in Pathfinder it would be tough to list them all here, but overall we think it is an excellent alternative to the Mac OSX Finder. I'm Jason Parker from Download.com and this has been a first look at Pathfinder, thanks for watching. ^M00:01:30 [ Music ]

Download.com guide to Registry Mechanic
Although not feature rich, this simple utility checks your registry for errors that can slow down and even crash your computer. Registry Mechanic finds a wide range of defects, including references to already uninstalled programs, missing help files, broken shortcuts, virtual devices, start-up programs, fonts, and configuration files. It also can automatically repair invalid entries at Windows start-up. If removing an entry causes problems with your system, you can restore the registry from backups. Users have a choice of Quick Scan or a more comprehensive Deep Scan, as well as a custom scan option. The aesthetically appealing interface is uncomplicated and easy to use, but Registry Mechanic is a one-trick pony. It does a great job on registry maintenance, but we would like to see other features to help keep computers running smoothly. Any computer user will find Registry Mechanic easy to run and a good way of keeping Windows in tip-top shape.
