Falcon Northwest Mach V Video Transcript

-Hi, I'm Rich Brown, senior editor for CNET. Today, we're gonna take a look at the Falcon Northwest Mach V. This is a $5000 game PC and it comes with Intel's brand new core i7-3930K CPU. It's actually a six-core chip that makes this system one of the most highly multi trended we've ever seen. As you can see, it comes in this monolithic black tower. It's pretty attractive and certainly creates that sort of imposing gaming system look if that what's you're going for. What's interesting though is that because it's a six-core CPU inside this PC, it's not necessarily the most effective gaming chip object. You can get a PC that cost about half as much as Intel's older generation 2600K chip and get basically the same application performance. So, what the system really comes down to then is a definitely high end gaming system with correct casing you'll see that has 3 GPUs and it's certainly meant to play games and high resolution. The next to system most appropriate for gamers that also engage in professional level designing or other high end high processor intensive task. It's got a pretty spare outside. On the front, you can see there's just a blue ray burner here as well as an SD card slot on the top, but then with the unique layout inside the PC, all the ports actually are on the top of the system. In this case, that fills into an Asus motherboard, and on the top, you will see it has all kinds of ports. It has 6 USB 3 ports, 7 USB 2, digital audio, analog audio, powered eSATA, pretty much anything you can think of. As I mentioned earlier, it comes with 3 graphics cards and each card has 2 DVI ports as well as mini HDMI output. So, there's a lot going on inside this PC. It has Falcon's traditional tidy cabling, which we appreciate. We also like the divider here that makes the airflow up from the graphics cards little bit more efficient. So, on the other side of the divider though, you see here is a CPU unit, Intel's Core i7-3930K chip. It's overclockable out of the box. It comes in about 3.6 gigs. Falcon has overclocked it here to 4.4. On the motherboard, which is also new, you got 8 memory slots, which is new. This has [unk] 16 gigs of RAM. We do not see gamers needing more than that for the perceivable future anyway, although content creators like as much memory then can get. Now, for the graphics cards here are 3 GeForce GTX 570 card. Each is 1.2 gigs of video memory. Now, the slots underneath the card are kind of interesting. You really can't see them. Thanks to the new chip set are actually PC express 3.0 slot. To the hard drives, you get 6 toll free beads over here. On the first slot, you have 120 gigabyte boot SSD drive and over here on the third slot, you have a 2 terabyte drive for general storage. Now, the Mach V actually sent the record in our lab in terms of power drive, cost about 143 dollars a year to run the system, roughly $12 a month. Now, so much high in hardware in this PC, it's no surprise that that it cost about $5000. Still, it's actually a fairly niche configuration. It's got 3 graphics cards to make it good for gaming, but as we said, the overclocked six-core CPU is really more specialize and designed for professional level use. So, I'm Rich Brown. This is the Falcon Northwest Mach V.
