Facebook for iPhone and iPod Touch 2.0 (First Look) Dek: An eye-witness look at the new native Facebook application for iPhone and iPod Touch 2.0. Pst, it includes Facebook Chat. ### Facebook's iPhone application makes interacting with friends on the phone as easy as it is online. It might make it a little easier, in fact, and I'll show you why. I'm Jessica Dolcourt from CNET DL.com. This is your First Look at Facebook for version 2 of the iPhone and iPod Touch firmware. ### The Facebook application opens by default on the Home screen, which doubles as the news feed of your friends' status updates. You'll be able to click an entry for a list of past status updates and can double-click the image to see a buddy's profile photos. Click the Profile button up top to bring up their profile page. In the same status screen you'll be able to upload mobile photos by tapping the camera icon and either taking a photo or choosing one from the iPhone's camera roll. ### The rest of the application keeps much of the same drill-down structure as the status page. All the profiles, including your own, have quick links to your Wall, Mini-Feed, and Photos. Other basics are down below, and a separate pop-out for listing personal information keeps the profile pages compact. ### On the Friend front, Facebook for iPhone 2.0 kindly sorts your contacts by the alphabetical order of their last name. You can scroll, tap a letter to skip ahead, or search. There's also a separate pane for chatting that improves upon the online experience with a list of available and idle friends, and of current conversations. ### Finally, there's the message window that shows you in a glance how many unread messages you have waiting. Click a message to read the thread. You can trash the thread by tapping the garbage can or reply by touching the arrow. You can also compose a new message to any contact by pressing the notepad icon and typing the first few letters of the recipient's name. ### You still can't edit your profile or use any third party apps. Some may see this as a huge set back, because third-party apps are really fun, but it also reduces a lot of clutter and has a focusing effect so you can find those essential features faster. I'm JD. This has been Facebook for iPhone 2.0.
