>> Just in case you were looking for one, RIM has given BlackBerry users another reason to download its native Facebook for BlackBerry app. I'm Jessica Dolcourt with CNET Download.com with a First Look at the latest edition of this software, Facebook for Blackberry, version 1.5. The big deal here in version 1.5 is the integration of Facebook's address book and calendar into your Blackberry's address book. For example, clicking your pal's name in Facebook pulls up their address book record, so you can click again to send an SMS or a call. If you want to write a wall or message post from the address book, clicking Facebook and then the action whisks you to a composition page in Facebook. In addition to exchanging images for phone numbers, the arrangement also plots friends, birthdays, and Facebook events on your BlackBerry calendar. You'll also see messages and status updates arrive in your BlackBerry message inbox. Now, all of this will only work if you're Facebook email address is the same as the one you're sporting on your BlackBerry and if the device is running on an operating system 4.2 and above, which the newer phones all are. The rest of the core features are still there. Adding and reading status updates, uploading a photo from the phone, interacting with friends, inviting new ones, poking, writing on the wall, and sending a direct message. Facebook for Blackberry still won't support third-party add-ons like games and super poking, but one feature we're really missing out on is Facebook chat. Maybe we'll get to see that integrated into the next version. In the meantime, this version does give you more power by bringing Facebook data out of the application, but these additions are more practical than flashy.
