The Epson Workforce 645 is a copier, scanner, and fax machine all in one device at only $150 Video Transcript

Hey. I'm Justin Yu for CNET.com and this is a spotlight video from my top printer pick. It's the Epson Workforce 645. If you don't wanna spend a lot on a printer but still need access to a copier, scanner, and fax machine built into the same device, the $150 Workforce 645 is a great option. First, it's physically small enough to fit on a crowded desk and all of the paper trays fold flush down into it when it's not being used. It's not the most exciting device to look at but I'll take functionality over flashy features like touchscreens and the touch wall displays any day. So, this is the control panel in the center, it rotates up and down so you can see it standing up or sitting down, and the 2-1/2-inch LCD display is where you're gonna interact with the printer. There's a few short cut buttons here for getting double-sided prints to save paper and the auto duplex are in the back flips over the sheet for you. You also get a 4-way directional pad for scrolling through menus and the controls are pretty easy to understand. If you're having trouble though, Epson does give you instructions through the driver CD that's included in the box. Epson's Workforce printer line is aimed at professionals and their offices but the media card reader on the front tells me that Epson understands the need for photo printing as well. And you can pull pictures off a flashcard, memory disk, XD and SD memory card. There's also a USB port to grab images of a thumb drive. The 645 has 4 ink cartridges for black, cyan, magenta and yellow. The separate tanks mean that you're not gonna spend a lot of money replacing the whole cartridge, just buy whichever color you need to refill. The company also offers extra-large capacity tanks for cost efficiency and after testing the print quality, I am satisfied with its colors and snapshot photos and graphics. Now granting this isn't meant to be a photo printer, so bright colors aren't gonna pop as boldly as they would in a five or six-ink cartridge printer. Regardless, it's definitely more than worthy of your business documents, handouts, snapshot photos and PowerPoint presentations, so business shoppers and home users alike should check out this printer. Its cloud printing features, double-sided prints, and auto document feeder on the top, makes scanning and copying really easy and its output speed is impressive as well. You can check out more features in my full review on CNET.com but that's gonna do it for me. I'm Justin Yu. You just took a spotlight tour of the Epson Workforce 645. Thanks for watching.
