Ep. 575: Where true love smells like Jasmine Video
The air conditioner in the studio where we record the show might be broken, but we're sweating it out this morning to bring you this Friday's episode of The 404 Podcast. Yesterday we talked to Jasmine France about her new Tech Dos and Don'ts column on the MP3 Insider blog and we all left the show convinced that there's an online dating Web site out there for everyone's interests, no matter how niche....and we were right!
After a marathon Zune lovefest last week, Donald and Jasmine come down with...yet more talk about the Zune! Don't worry: it's just a brief update regarding the Zune HD presale, release date, capacity, and pricing. Oh, and of course we have to mention the three new colors that will be available. Then, it's on to a little third-gen iPod Touch rumor-mongering, followed by a trip down memory lane with some old-school MP3 players with tempting price tags. Finally, we have a mini in-studio rave with the iBlink headphones.
With Jasmine out on vacation, Donald brings CNET Labs' Eric Franklin into the studio for an epic nerd session on audio quality measurements, including recent test data from the Zune HD and iPod Touch. We've got charts, folks!
We've utterly given up the concept of "on-topic" today, as talk of Apple's Developer License Agreement suddenly turns into a conversation about patent law and nuclear arsenals and our one voicemail is a dirty anagram. What happened!? Also, some bad words.
Still pumped about the anniversary of the moon landing last week? Continue the celebration with Google Earth! Veronica shows you some new features on today's Tekzilla Daily.
Apple updates the iMac, find out the refreshed specs. All is quiet on the Microsoft and Yahoo front. Find out what may happen now that the three week ultimatum is over. AOL has new partnerships in blogging and fantasy football. Find out what they are up to. Plus, we've got an iPhone case that costs $190,000. We took it to the streets of New York and surprisingly did not get mugged.
This week, Donald and Jasmine praise an ultratiny music system with big sound and an innovative design. Also, Donald tries to convince DJs that vinyl turntables aren't the be-all, end-all to music entertainment; UMG makes a last ditch effort to save CDs; and Jasmine shakes her head in shame at Samsung's choices. Also, SanDisk launches the 32GB microSD card--anyone need a 48GB Clip+?

Andy Stitzer (Steve Carell) has gone 40 years without "doing it." Now his pals are making it their mission to help him score... fast. Can he survive their hilariously bad advice? Will he land in the arms of the way-too-experienced or the way-too-drunk? Or can he find true love where he least expects it, from a gorgeous grandmother (Catherine Keener)? With additional footage too bold for theaters, "The 40-Year-Old Virgin" now packs even more outrageous comedy.
