It next week and it leaving that there is. -- Internet. I write things -- -- and everybody catching up.
Dong Ngo pays a visit to Crave this week and brings with him a handy little gadget that justifies his drinking on the job. Also, we let a conversation on 3D camcorders descend into porn talk (naturally), and Eric scares the bejesus out of Jasmine with a creepy, limbless robot baby...or at least the thought of one. Finally, Donald whets our appetites with some Star Wars-themed kitchen toys that are bound to make your cookies and sandwiches more tempting, if not actually more tasty.
Eric Franklin once again invades the Crave podcast and is more than happy to provide his opinion on how unrealistic our latest Lego obsession is. Jasmine, on the other hand, is utterly unimpressed with the DIY power laces that aim to mimic the sweet Nikes from "Back to the Future II." But the tone turns hopeful when we get to Donald's army of beer-o-matic robots, and we're all a little taken with two sweet keyboards that take two totally different tacks.
With Jasmine out on vacation, Donald brings CNET Labs' Eric Franklin into the studio for an epic nerd session on audio quality measurements, including recent test data from the Zune HD and iPod Touch. We've got charts, folks!
Crave alumni Jasmine France makes a cameo this week to promote Sonos for Android. Meanwhile, Donald and Eric waste no time taking the show straight down the toilet (literally) with the latest Kohler Numi. Plus, robots to help you train for the robocalypse and a drink that leaves us with mixed feelings.
What's not to crave about a pole dancing bike? We can think of a few things, actually, but it's still pretty cool. Donald, Eric, and Jasmine also have a go at a super simple phone for luddites and get very serious about George Lucas's neck fat. Plus, Jasmine wants to take a ride in GUSS, Donald has a massive crush on a limbless robot, and Eric wants to take a date to Burger King. Finally, a little bit of ear candy for the MP3 Insider holdovers with some knobtastic speaker furniture.
Eric and Donald reflect on their time at Maker Faire 2011 and encounters with robots, propane, and high-voltage sculpture, and wacky automobiles.
On this week's Crave vodcast, we attempt to answer the pressing question of which one is creepier: a Barbie cleavage cam or machine-gun wielding security cam. Either way, a camera's gonna getcha. Also on tap is a wide array of robotic walking aids, from an even lazier version of the roller shoe to sweet bionic legs for the disabled and the military. Plus, Jasmine thinks a killer drone is cute, Donald geeks out on a Super Mario star tattoo, and Eric is just...Eric.
Do robots make good bartenders? CNET's Donald Bell and Eric Franklin investigate the cutting edge of cocktail robotics at BarBot 2011 in San Francisco. They meet robots for mixing a Kamikaze in zero-gravity, a methodical Martini-bot, and an apocalypse-ready robot that makes a vegan White Russian.
Jasmine's (mostly) back from vacation, and already hates the iPhone 4. To balance out her blind rage for the as-yet released device, Eric and Donald tackle Crave stories ranging from monkey-controlled robots, laser drug injection, and a Lego printer that drives ladies wild (or not). Stick around for the end, and you may just see Darth Vader's cleavage.
Crave explores Maker Faire: playing with robots and videos games, chatting with inventors, gawking at Steve Wozniak, and tripping out on bicycle-powered blinky lights. Fun!
