Ep. 101: Verizon launches Droid attack
The Droid is coming! The Droid is coming! In case you haven't heard, Verizon's first Google Android phone is on the way and the carrier isn't holding anything back, taking some not-so-subtle swipes at the beloved iPhone. We're not going to lie; it's pretty fun to watch. Also on this week's episode, we take a look at the new BlackBerry Bold 9700 and some new senior- and wallet-friendly cell phones from Consumer Cellular.
CNET's Natali Del Conte takes a look at the Motorola Droid for Verizon Wireless, a smartphone running Google's Android 2.0 operating system and marketed as an anti-iPhone. It is set to hit the market on November 6 for $199.99, with a two-year contract.

Rafe Needleman is drawn in to a love story with the new Motorola Droid. Dare we call it a Dro-mance? It's certainly a flashy new phone for Verizon, which hasn't always been known for flashy new phones. We also congratulate Google on getting the contract to provide e-mail to the city of Los Angeles. Well, congratulations and we fear for them. Because if they mess this up, it is so over.
Rafe and Molly take over the show today, due to travels by Tom and Natali, and not surprisingly, geek out and argue a lot about things like FM radio transmitters. In the actual news, it's cell phone Monday with lots of talk about the spread of Android, the future of smartphone Internet apps, and the stupidity of illegally pirating a movie and reviewing it on Fox News. Oops.
Bonnie and Kent are in San Diego this week covering the CTIA wireless trade show, so Nicole roped in Jason Howell and Donald Bell to cover all the week's news. We talk about the new Android phones, Windows Mobile 6.5, new phones for AT&T and Verizon, and of course, this week's reviews.

We also debate the reality of Cyber Monday and congratulate Twitter on being word of the year. Also we know you're all wishing for Macs for Christmas, but you're going to get a netbook. Amazon doesn't lie.
