Hi, I?m Molly Wood from CNET.com, and this is a T-Mobile BlackBerry Curve that is perfectly capable of receiving MMS, or Multimedia Messages ? but they?re not coming through. That?s because some default settings might be blocking them. Here?s how to start getting texts with pictures in them on your Curve ? and thanks to Buzz Out Loud listener Steve for the tip. To make sure you can receive MMS, click the Options wrench here, and then go to MMS. Next to Multimedia Reception select "Always" and select the same for Automatic Retrieval. Next, under Notifications, check the boxes next to Allow Delivery Confirmation and Allow Read Confirmation. That means the phone will report back to the carrier and the sender?s phone that the message has been received ? and that?s good, because it?ll stop your phone from trying to fetch the message over and over. Now, under Message Filtering, uncheck the boxes next to Reject Anonymous Messages and Reject Advertisements. Obviously, this is risky, and if you find yourself getting lots of MMS spam, you can re-check these boxes and make sure anyone who?s sending you text pictures is in your address book. Save the changes, hit the escape key until you get to the home screen, and you should be in business. As usual with the BlackBerry, you might have to pull out the battery and restart the phone, but that should do the trick. If that doesn?t work, you may have a problem on the carrier end, OR, if you have a corporate- issue BlackBerry, there?s a good chance your company has disabled MMS.
