>> [ Cheering and Applauding ]

>> And here it is. You are probably wondering why there is four guys pushing the car instead of driving it. That's because the batteries is not in yet. The car is assembled in England, the battery is made in Taiwan and they bring the two together in San Carlos to make it a car. Tesla had hoped to come out with its first car last year but it ran into problems with [inaudible] components the transmission. It's fixed some of the problems but not all of them so they'll only put out about one car a week for a while. But pretty soon it's going to ramp up quickly. Chairman Elon Musk acknowledged that putting together a car start up is daunting. Very few companies have actually been able to this in a hundred years. Still Tesla will move forward with an electric sedan and after that economy cars. Despite the delays a number of people have already put down deposits to get the Tesla Roadster.

>> Yeah, George Clooney is on the wait list. You will see another print media the governor, Governor Schwarzenegger. Flea from Red Hot Chili Peppers.

>> Okay.

>> Anthony Kiedis from the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

>> Oh there you go.

>> Will.I.am from the Black Eyed Peas, the Google founders, so there is a lot of hi-tech CEO's as well as you know early doctors of technology as well as a select crowd.

>> One of the reasons that Tesla Roadster cost $98,000 is the batteries. Batteries are extremely expensive. To get the price down and dig it the range farther Tesla is next going to come out with a car that has a gas and electric engine. The small gas engine will charge the batteries while you drive. It's been a long tough road for these guys but the first car is out and the company says you can see a lot more from them soon. I'm Michael Kanellos from News.com. ^M00:01:53 [ Music ]
