>> Jessica Dolcourt: Googles default browser for android phones isn't very exciting. Dolphin is one browser alternative that tries to shake things up. I'm Jessica Dolcourt with CNET taking a first look at the Dolphin Browser 2.5. Dolphin's unique design takes some getting used to. There's a Google search bar on the main interface and an area where you can trace gestures to do things like open a new tab and go back and forward. You can also define your own gestures. When you open a new tab you're greeted with a list of options to see your most visited sites, bookmarks, Google apps, a list of flag sites to read later and a tie into delicious. There are a lot more features in here as well. There's multi touch zooming, content search, RSS subscriptions using Google reader and link sharing via Twitter and Facebook. You can also download content like YouTube videos. You can tap to hide the nav bar and long press to get some more options. You can swipe between open tabs although it's a little laggy. There's voice search in the new tab page and you can choose if websites see you as an android, iPhone or desktop user. There are additional themes you can download for free as well. Some things that aren't so intuitive are setting and changing the home page and navigating to a new page from an open tab. Also like many mobile browser there's no flash support so not all sites will work. We notice that Dolphin takes over as the default browser without asking permission, that's a big no no. Overall, Dolphin looks good and there are some slick features but there are also a few drawbacks that will turn some users off. The ad supported version of Dolphin is free. For $5 you can use it ad free. I'm Jessica Dolcourt and this has been Dolphin browser 2.5 for Android.
