Hey, folks, welcome to Tap That App. Im Jaymar Cabebe, and this is the show where we tap the finest pieces of app on planet Earth. Today we are checking out Thumb, which basically lets you poll the public about anything you want. Use it correctly, and it can be a nice little tool for some casual research. Heres how it works: there are two ways to use Thumb: You can Ask for Opinions or you can Give Your Opinion. If you want to ask for opinions, first type in your question--the yes- or-no variety works best--then attach a photo. You can use a photo from your gallery, take a new photo, or grab one from the Web, all from within Thumbs interface. After that, select a category, to give your question some context, then hit Get Opinions! Itll take a minute for people to start chiming in, so you can go ahead and vote on other peoples questions while you wait. You can vote with a thumbs-up, a thumbs-down, or you can keep it neutral. If you like, you can also add comments, which users always appreciate. And to make it easy, each time you vote, the app will automatically move you on to the next question. At this point, my only issue with Thumb is that some of the users tend to ask questions that arent exactly optimized for the platform, if you know what Im saying. Take this one. Doesnt exactly lend itself to the thumbs-up-thumbs-down format, right? So, just be sure to pose your questions correctly, and Thumb will be a really useful tool for everybody. Now, to go back and see what the public thinks of my question. [Read the poll results: e.g. 40 people have chimed in, and it looks like about half of them think] And if you want, you can also see the results of your previous questions. As you can see here, 71% of Thumbs users were totally wrong about the shirt I was wearing yesterday. And thats it, folks. Thumb is free and available on both the Android Market and iTunes App Store. I highly suggest you download it, and give my red lumberjack shirt some love. Otherwise, if youve got another hot app that you want me to tap, holler at me on the Twitter. Thanks for watching.
We're not sure that Barney Frank gambles in his pajamas but he's fighting for your right to do so in the United States. Also Verizon gets a little slutty, looking for an iPhone, and Android phone, and pretty much anything else. Also Blu-ray is on the rise, but so are digital downloads.
Instant-messaging for a cause; hot headphones; wrapping your ride; and a Firefox extension that makes instant full-screen slide shows. Plus a Johnny Five look-alike, vibranxiety, and saving Butts.
Facebook now, officially, knows everything about you and plans to know much, much more. But at least all your data will look super pretty. Plus, phones for girls, and iPhone 5 coming soon!
An artist combs public places for gum, hair, and cigarette butts and then 3D-prints portraits of the unsuspecting people who've left their DNA behind. Plus, we take a look at a laser-powered flashlight, and get our heads chopped off in an app for the Oculus Rift head-mounted display.
Looking for an easy way to resize images, or convert that photo to a different format? On today's Tekzilla Daily, Veronica shows you how to use SageThumbs, which makes that whole process as easy as a right-click.
There's an excruciatingly difficult time in every young man's life between when he starts thinking about sex and when he can actually do something about it. Meet Deacon (Eric von Detten), Matt (Daniel Farber), and Fred (Tony Denman), three typical American teenagers stuck right in the middle of that horrible age when it seems like life is passing you by while you're just standing still. They'll do anything for even a glimpse of sex and spend their mornings pirating X-rated movies from Fred's after-school job at the video store. But when Fred is fired, the well runs dry, and the young entrepreneurs come up with a new plan: make their own "adult" film. Along the way, they interview a gaggle of toothless hookers, butt heads with Deacon's nemesis Jake (Riley Smith), befriend the sexy but no-nonsense stripper turned actress Ashley (Sarah Jane Potts), and fuel the wrath of local porno king Vic Ramalot (Horatio Sanz). It isn't long before our heroes have to get themselves out of the mess they've gotten into - which turns out to be the wackiest series of misadventures ever to take place in high school. Directed by David M. Evans. Also starring Tom Arnold and Amy Smart.
We'll recap the newest features under the hood of the iPhone 4S. Apple's voice control feature looks pretty impressive and we all know the 4S looks just like an iPhone 4. But it's anything but an iPhone 4.
Director Garry Tutte directs DL in this dance-centric club clip for Verbalerity, the second single off Life's A Collection of Experiences. DL looks pretty comfortable in the room of muted burgundy, gold and chocolate, rocking a white track jacket with popped collar and making eyes at the lady at the bar. He's entitled to be feeling pretty good; Life's A Collection was Juno-nominated and his next LP, Organic Music For A Digital World is due March 2006. - MuchMusic
Wilson's back, but we figure everyone is tired of hearing about the Apple Mac OS X Snow Leopard by now, so we shift gears and talk about Walmart shoppers instead. Behold: a new blog documenting the People of Walmart. While Wilson "Tennessee" Tang thinks this all looks pretty typical, Jeff and I are straight up spooked. It's humiliating enough to set foot in a Walmart, but what if I just need to pick up deodorant? Now I have to worry about being publicly humiliated on this blog too? And who brought that goat into the store?
The inventor who pretty much built it all.
