Dodge Dart returns to the road Video Transcript

This is the 2013 Dodge Dart. Now, Dodge hasn't produced a Dart since since the 70's. This car is not like nothing it's predecessor. In fact, it's nothing like its predecessor at all. This is front wheel drive where the early on was rear wheel drive and this is based on a Fiat platform. It's also got a Fiat engine as well. There's actually 3 engine choices you get with this car. There's a 1.2 turbo, a 2 liter and a 2.4 liter. Now, both the 1.2 turbo and the 2 liter produced 160 hp, so you might wonder what's the difference between the two. Well, the turbo actually gets 184 ft-lbs of torque. That's about 40 more ft-lbs of torque than the 2 liter. So it will get better acceleration and it will probably get better fuel economy too although Dodge hasn't released the fuel economy numbers yet. It's got this really nice modern styling in the front. It's really unique and it's a nice touch. When you get on the side and it's very short. It's much shorter car than the original and frankly, it's a little mundane back here and doesn't have that kind of cool modern styling as the front. Now, the really cool thing in the Dart is this LCD instrument cluster. The 7-inch display which shows your speedometer and the inside (ring?) of the speedometer has a lot of different displays you can bring up by pushing this button on the steering wheel. And we also get an 8.4 inch LCD in the center dash. Now, this is a touch screen and this shows all your entertainment stuff. It shows your navigation, your phone system, your stereo. It's the same kind of system they have in the Dodge Charger that we looked at earlier this year. So the 2013 Dodge Dart will be available this year and should come in under 20 grand.
