Dive in with the 4G LTE Kyocera Hydro Elite Video Transcript
Hello, everybody. It's Lynn La from CNET and right now we're gonna check out the Kyocera Hydro Elite from Verizon Wireless. Now the Elite is Kyocera's first Android smartphone on Verizon, and from what we can tell it's one of the best Hydro handsets we've seen from the whole family. For instance it packs an 8-megapixel camera instead of a 5-megapixel camera that we commonly see in Hydro phones. It also has a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera for vanity shots. In addition it has a slimmer, more modern design and it's equipped with a 4.3-inch HD display that has a 1280x720 pixel resolution. Now just like other Hydros, the handset is not only splash proof but it's waterproof too, so it could be fully immersed in up to a meter of water for up to 30 minutes. It runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and comes with some Kyocera's software features including MagniFont which increases text size and Eco mode, an app that helps you conserve battery life. Powering the 4G LTE handset is a 2.1 ampere-hour battery that has a reported talk time of up to 13 hours and a 1.5 gigahertz dual-core Snapdragon processor. Additional features include expandable memory up to 32 gigabytes, 16 gigabytes of internal memory, NFC, and wireless charging. If you're interested, the device is currently going for about $50 after users sign a carrier agreement. Again, I'm Lynn and this has been Verizon's Hydro Elite.

Kyocera Hydro Elite (Verizon) Review
The good: The inexpensive Kyocera Hydro Elite is a compact, waterproof handset with wireless charging, a decent camera, and expandable memory.
The bad: Sluggish internal speeds and mediocre call quality bog down the device's performance.
The bottom line: Kyocera's Elite will quench Verizon users' thirst for a stylish and reasonably priced water-resistant phone -- just don't expect it to be a powerful speed demon.
