As our prophet noted on the Forums, without more information we can't be absolutely sure but we think your problem is probably Num Lock, that stands for Number Lock, a key that's often used on laptops to provide a number keypad without having to add extra keys. With Num Lock pressed some of the letter keys turn into numbers and usually this is noted in a smaller differently colored notation on the key itself.
