Dell Vostro V131 Video Transcript

Now, whether or not you may be aware of it, there are small-business laptops out there that aren't really targeted for the average person that you might still be interested in buying. I'm Scott Stein, Senior Editor with cnet.com and this is the Dell Vostro V131. Now, it's meant for small business and you're probably not gonna find it in most stores but it happens to be that this thin 13-inch laptop has a pretty aggressive starting price that might sort of fit what you're looking for if you're looking for 13-inch laptop in this back-to-school season. It'd be a bit of a stretch because this really is meant for business users and it has some features that are targeted for them including some voice chat-optimized array mics and stuff that, you know, you may not be interested in it if you're just gonna stick it in your backpack. However, the starting price for this is $499 which is really aggressive. Now, on the other hand, that's will only gonna get you a Celeron processor. If you bumped up to $599, you do get a Core i3 processor that's 2nd Gen intel Sandy Bridge and you also get 2.0GB of RAM and a 320GB hard drive and you get a body that's pretty nice and thin for Dell standards in a 13-inch area. It's not MacBook Air thin but it's definitely slim. It's pretty attractive. It's minimal. It has a nice, clean look. It has a metal frame and a plastic interior with a really nice comfortable keyboard that's also available in the backlit option if you want to bump up to it. There are also as it fits to business laptop a lot of WAN and 3G and LTE and WiMax options that you can put into this for mobile computing. This Dell Vostro V131 also has a matte screen which is pretty rare in laptops nowadays and if you're a matte screen finishes that don't like glossy screens, that might be appealing to you. It's also got some USB 3.0 ports to keep it up with the rest of modern laptops and it's a solid package. The battery life and the processing speed is a big boost up from what we saw of last year when we review the Dell Volstro V130, finally making this something that could be worth your consideration. There are a lot of laptops in that price range especially at $600 but they aren't that many that are this thin. I'm Scott Stein and that's a look at the Dell Vostro V131 small-business laptop.
