The Dell UltraSharp U2713HM: High-res and plenty of options at a decent price Video Transcript

Hey guys, Eric Franklin here from cnet.com. And today, I'm taking the first look at the Dell UltraSharp U2713. This is a 27-inch monitor with a 2560 x 1440 resolution. Also includes a host of ergonomic options including screen height adjustability, pivot, swivel, and tilt. Connections include display port, VGA, DVI, HDMI, USB upstream, 2 USB downstream ports on the back, and 2 USB downstream ports on the side. The Dell quality feels kind of plasticky when I adjust the screen to its highest. It definitely wobbles a lot when knock from the sides and when adjusted to its lowest it doesn't wobble nearly as much. The OSD includes adjustments for brightness, contrast, sharpness, also includes many color temperature options, RGB controls and a bevy of presets. The 2560 x 1440 resolution is really sharp. It has a high pixel density and you really see this difference when you're surfing the web or just using a monitor normally. We really stands out, however, it's when you're playing games. Games are some of the only apps that have run at that specific resolution. Games support accurate colors and generally look great. While movies won't run at the monitor's native resolution, they still look sharp and colorful running at 1080K. The U2713 costs $800, which is a pretty fair price for a monitor of this size, this resolution with the amount of connection options it has and the amount of OSD options it has. Check on my full review for more details. Once again, I'm Eric Franklin and this has been the first look at the Dell UltraSharp U2713.

Dell U2713HM Review

The good: The Dell UltraSharp U2713HM delivers excellent performance across the board, includes a huge array of customization options, and has great ergonomic support. USB 3.0 is a nice bonus.

The bad: There's a slight green tint problem when watching movies, and $800 is a lot to pay for a monitor, no matter what's included.

The bottom line: The Dell UltraSharp U2713HM is an excellent monitor that will satisfy both the performance snob and the features diva alike.
