>> I'm Dan Ackerman senior editor at CNET.com and this is the Dell Inspiron 1420. Now, a couple of months ago dell went back to redesign their entire laptop line and they even added a brand new model this 14 inch the 1420. Now, most mainstream laptops are 15 inches we kind of find those a little bit too big and bulky and heavy to use. We really like the 14 inch models that everyone's starting to add to their lineup. Across the Inspiron line, Dell did a pretty much ground up redesign of the entire thing. They got read of the big bulky boxy squared off look. These things are a little bit thinner a little bit sleeker they got rounded edges now you can get them in all kinds of cool colors. This guy is red, or you can get green or blue or just basic black or silver or anything you like like that. And of course, they added all the latest Intrino Duos CPUs and chip sets so you get pretty descent performance. What we really like about the Inspiron line particularly this 1420 is that they are the most flexible laptops I think we've ever seen. You can start off at like 800 bucks with a very stripped down system or add any kind of bells and whistles you want under the sun make it a 2000 dollar computer. From the outside, it looks exactly the same. Now, the down side to that is that pretty much anything you want from a webcam to eight 80211N wifi is extra. They really kind of nickel and dime you for everything under the sun, but you really can pack this out with a blue ray drive with an EVDO card with anything you want like that. Now, this guy is pretty much the definition of a mainstream middle of the road laptop. We mean that in a good way. So, if you're a student on the budget or you just don't have any idea where to start in putting together a laptop you should definitely give the new Inspiron line a try. You can find a faster all-in-one from Lenovo for just a few more dollars, but as a general-purpose system with a strong home entertainment bend, the Dell Inspiron One 2320 is hard to beat.
The Dell Inspiron 530 has very little that makes this system stand out, but if you need Bluetooth in your budget desktop, we can recommend no other.
