Dell G2210 & G2410 Video Transcript

>> Eric: Hi, this is Eric Franklin with CNET.com and today we're taking a look at the Dell G2210 and the G2410, these are pretty much identical monitors except for the screen size difference 22 and 24 inches respectively and the different aspect ratios the D2210 is 16 by 10 and the G2410 is 16 by 9. Each display is very plainly designed with angular features in a black matte finish. Each has a rectangular wide and flat foot stand and you'd have to really knock it hard before you see it topple. The displays tilt back about 25 degrees but there are no other ergonomic options beyond that. To keep the price and energy footprint down Dell only includes DVI and VGA as connection options, there's no HDMI connection here. The most unique features of the monitors is its on-screen display the OSD follows Dells recent stellar of labeless design last seen in SP2309W; this OSD, however, is even simpler and easier to use with more features. We like that since any button labels for the OSD are actually on the screen calibrating the display in a dark room proves painless. Pressing the button next to energy mode on the OSD brings up a menu for choosing 3 different modes that determine your monitor's energy footprint. Different modes activate power-saving features such as an ambient light sensor and dynamic dimming. If the screen shows a very bright image the image will actually dim. You can also choose from 11 different presets each is appropriate to movies, games, surfing the web, etcetera. Each display includes an LED back light which allows them to be more efficient with the amount of light coming through the screen. As such this gives each monitor a very low black level which makes movies especially Blu-ray movies look stellar, there's virtually no back-light bleed through and the reproduction of color is very accurate. Still this is a Twisted Nomadic or TM panel display so the viewing angle begins to suffer about 6 inches off from center. While they lack both ergonomic features and an HDMI connection each of the displays makes up for these shortcomings with great performance in movies and by offering energy options that'll allow you to track and control your energy footprint. Dell sells the 24 inch G2410 for $260.00 and the 22 inch G2210 for $200.00 online as of this video. And each proves to be the best options if you're looking for either a 22 inch or 24 inch TN display with stellar performance and a low power consumption. Once again this is Eric Franklin and this has been the first look at the Dell G2210 and G2410. ^M00:02:42 [ Music ]

Dell G2210 Review

The good: The LED backlit Dell G2210 offers stellar all-around performance at a low price. Also, its onscreen display is intuitively designed and includes unique energy consumption options.

The bad: The Dell G2210 is plainly designed, lacks ergonomic features, and doesn't have an HDMI connection. Also, unlike the G2410, it's not Full HD.

The bottom line: The Dell G2210 offers stellar performance and an energy conscious interface at a low price.
