Dashwire 2.0 beta Video Transcript

Dashwire Sorting through your phone calls, text messages, and contacts isn't always easy on a mobile phone. The data is distributed in different places throughout the file system and the phone's small screen can make manual management a strain. I'm JD with CNET DL.com. This is a FL at Dashwire 2.0, an easy solution for managing your phone's essential contact and media data?from your phone. ### A small application for Dashwire 2.0 lives on your phone and syncs the information between your phone and your online account. It'll show your screen name and profile photo, your status bar?which you can update from the phone?and a photo strip. You can view your photos and interact with them on the phone or send them to friends. Nice touches for enlivening what would otherwise be a static app; but the real action happens online. ### Your Dashwire.com account displays all your contacts, phone media, and everything related to communication on one webpage that you can read in a glance. You've got your contacts! Calls! Bookamrks! Ringtones! Videos! And text messages! that you don't just look at, but can interact with. For instance, you can type a text to anyone on your contact list and it will appear as though it was sent through your phone. You can add a bookmark or organize and share your phone photos from the comfort of a large screen and keyboard. ### Here's something really cool. Dashwire has partnered with CallWave, a fellow beta program, to bring you visual voicemail. That means you can quickly see who called you and listen to your voice messages in any order. You can also assign contacts to speed dial, and-?since Dashwire has some social networking aspirations?you can also control your status message and profile image. ### Other than the managerial functionality, another key feature is being able to rearrange elements around your dashboard. You just drag and drop until you're happy with the placement. The same goes for the height of each tile. ### Not everything is perfect, of course. Dashwire is technically in open beta, so there are some known bugs, and room for improvement before an official release. At the time of this taping, there were some known performance bugs with Firefox 3. Some tiles, like the conversation window, also let you to view the content, but won't yet let you delete it. ### Despite these few creaks, I highly recommend Dashwire for anyone with a version 5 or version 6 Windows Mobile phone. Get started for free from CNET Download.com. I'm Jessica Dolcourt. You've been at Dashwire. ###
