-A wireless router can generally handle both the wireless clients, such as a laptop or a smartphone, and wired clients, such as a desktop computer. Now, it would be even better if it could handle a powerline connection, too. Hello, my name is Dong Ngo and this is the first all-in-one router of that kind, the DHP 1320 Wireless N PowerLine Router from D-Link. The router is slightly different from other wireless routers. The biggest difference, however, is its power supply, which is inside the router itself. This power supply is also now dubbed a powerline adapter, allowing its power cable to also work as direct cable for a powerline connection. This means, in order to create a powerline connection, you only need just one adapter at the far end corner, instead of two. Other than that, the DHP 1320 is a single-band wireless N router that has a built-in USB port. This port can be used with D-Link's SharePort technology and allows any USB device to work with a network computer as though it worked connected to the computer directly. The router has 2 antennae on the back where you'd also find the on/off button and a switch that quickly changes the device's function between a router and an access point. D-Link DHP-1320 Wireless N PowerLine Router Review
The good: The D-Link DHP-1320 Wireless N PowerLine Router incorporates HomePlug AV power-line technology and works with other HomePlug AV-compliant power-line adapters. The router offers fast wireless throughput speed, long range, and IP6 support, and is easy to use.
The bad: The D-Link DHP-1320 has only three LAN ports and doesn't support Gigabit Ethernet, dual-band wireless, or the 500Mbps power-line standard. The router's range throughput could be better and it's a little bulky.
The bottom line: Supporting Wireless-N and HomePlug AV, the D-Link DHP-1320 Wireless N PowerLine Router is an ideal router for a home network that favors flexibility over performance. Its lack of support for Gigabit Ethernet, dual-band wireless, and the 500Mbps power-line standard, however, makes it less suitable for those who need to share or stream a large amount of data.
